Emily Bacher Galvão

Professor & Women’s Team/Youth Instructor

Emily received her black belt in 2023 from Prof Daniel Galvão after beginning her training under him in UAE 2014. She currently co-instructs our kid’s classes, and leads our Women’s Program at Mãozinha BJJ.

As an active competitor, Emily has earned podium finishes at prestigious events, including 3x Bronze medalist at IBJJF Master Worlds, Pan Americans, Jiu Jitsu Con, and is a multiple times Gold medalist/podium finishes at IBJJF Opens & at local competitions.

She is a strong advocate for the growth of women in jiu-jitsu, and co-founded Houston Femme BJJ, a monthly Houston-based open mat created to support and connect women and young girls in the sport.

Emily is also dedicated to working with individuals with special needs, teaching both children and adults. As a mother to a young daughter on the autism spectrum, she is especially passionate about making jiu-jitsu an inclusive and empowering space for all.
